Scaning Electron Microscopic Studies of Haller¢¥s Organ in the Ticks, Haemaphysalis japonensis Warburton and Ixodes ovatus Neumann

Abstract

|
Haller¢¥s organ setae and certain dorsal sensilla on tarsus I of the adult Haemaphysalis japonensis Warburton and Ixodes ovatus Neumann were studied by scaning electron microscopy.
The anterior pit sensilla, medial sensilla and capsule. occupy approximately the same relative position on tarsus I in both species.
The grouped with the 5 anterior pit sensilla, 5 medial sensilla of the Ixodes Haller¢¥s organ and 3 anterior pit sensilla, 4 medial sensilla of the Haemaphysalis Haller¢¥s organ.
The capsule is in a triangular form in the Ixodes and Haemaphysalis is in a oval form.
